ABOUT US

The Mobile Loaves & Fishes Camp was created eight years ago. With continued inspiration from Matthew 25:35, our camp teaches elementary and middle school-aged children about poverty  - both in our communities and worldwide - and encourages them to reach out and serve others in need.

This year, in response to the desires of our community, we are excited to see the continued growth of our camp program! Our summer camp will be offered at several churches in the greater Austin area, and will include many interesting and fun activities & games.  We are excited to meet new campers and to inform, involve, and inspire our youth to serve others.

“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you took me in."

OUR HISTORY

Picture

2010

Mobile Loaves & Fishes Camp is founded.
Introduced as a pilot program to 40 children in the summer of 2010, our social outreach camp was offered to children between the ages of 8 and 14. The goal was to encourage them to think beyond themselves, and about how they could help those in need.

2011

I Survived Life on the Streets
This year's theme addressed the plight of the homeless trying to survive on the streets. Campers participated in activities to increase their awareness of the challenges others face.

Get Tough on Poverty
Enrollment grew rapidly as word spread about this special camp that introduced our children to the concept of truly seeing those around them and learning to help in ways appropriate for their age.

2013

Keep Austin Fed
The focus this year was how many hungry children and adults were in our very own schools and neighborhoods. Activities and games helped the kids to realize that there are  many kids and families who are less fortunate.

Service League
Our camp extended its boundaries beyond St. Thomas More. Also offered at St. Vincent de Paul, the idea of serving others was embraced by 400 children in the Greater Austin area.

2015

Life on the Streets
This year, our MLF day camp achieved full enrollment in less than two weeks - a testament to our mission of educating our children about poverty in our communities, and how they can reach out in service to others.

One Kingdom, One World, One People
Camp begins this year with the creation of the world and how God made each person in His image. The campers will experience different cultures from around the world, but will realize all people have the same basic needs: love, food and shelter. They will learn ways to serve and make a difference in the lives of others. As children of God, we are all part of One Kingdom, One World and we are One People.

2017

S*E*R*V*E Those Who S*E*R*V*E
Through scriptures, games, and activities campers explored what it means to be free and to serve as a part of the Army of God. They learned about the challenges faced by veterans, servicepeople, and their families and how we can honor them through meeting their basic needs and showing them dignity. Campers saw that to fight the world’s evils and hardships, we must put on the Armor of God and Pray, Prepare, Trust, Stand, and Serve.

Fling Open the Doors!

Camp will focus on the belief that God is asking us to “fling open our doors” to all in our neighborhoods, communities and beyond. To answer His call, we welcome all others not with judgment, but with dignity, respect and love.
