STAFF & VOLUNTEER CODE OF CONDUCT

As a staff member or volunteer (furthermore referred to as camp staff), you have the opportunity to have a lasting, positive impact on our campers – an important responsibility. MLF Camp Staff members are expected to serve as positive role models to all campers.
The following consists of guidelines that every MLF Camp staff member is expected to follow. Please read carefully, and indicate that you have read and understand this document by signing and dating below.

The Camp Director will address all code of conduct violations immediately. As a camp staff member, you should understand that camp is for everyone and any behavior deemed to be outside of the code of conduct may result in dismissal from the MLF Summer Camp staff.

As a camp staff member of MLF Summer Camp, I agree to the following:
  • I will know and follow the rules of camp.
  • I will treat others with respect, dignity, fairness and courtesy.
  • I will act in a professional manner at all times and remember that I am a representative of MLF Summer Camp.
  • I will follow the camp dress code, and will be neat and clean in my personal appearance.
  • I will remember that physical displays of affection are not camp appropriate under any circumstances.
  • I will not take part in any bullying or harassment of campers or staff, nor will I discriminate against any camper or camp staff member.
  • I will communicate in an appropriate manner; I will not use foul language or gestures, harsh words or slurs of any kind.
  • I will be on time for camp and will participate in all camp activities for which I am responsible.
  • I will respect the property of others, the MLF Summer Camp, and the host location.
  • I will not use cell phones or other electronic devices in the presence of campers, unless approved by the Camp Director (i.e. taking approved photos or videos.)
  • I will not use, possess or distribute any illegal drugs or alcohol around camp or have used these substances before reporting for duty.
  • I will not bring firearms or weapons of any sort to camp.
  • I will not invite any visitors to camp without prior written authorization from the Camp Director
  • I will remember that only the Camp Director may speak to the media about camp. I further understand that I must not disclose camper information via any media type including but not limited to photos, texts, social media etc.
  • I will inform the Camp Director of any situation I feel may affect the welfare of campers and/or camp staff.
  • I will inform the Camp Director in writing, one week prior to any request for time off.
  • I will be fully responsible for my own actions and understand that failure to follow this code of conduct could result in my dismissal from camp.
